Romantic Rose Hair Bow Tutorial

Design this beautiful satin and sheer ribbon romantic rose hair bow. The sheer rose and satin leaves are attached to a French clip. The hair clip looks beautiful in an up-do, sitting on top of a pony-tail, or as a way to pull the sides of your hair back.

The instructions in this tutorial demonstrate how to make simple ribbon leaves, as well as, how to make a simple sheer ribbon rose. Use the tutorial to make one bow or combination of bows. Make just a rose bow or a ribbon leaves bow with a large button or rhinestone in the center.

Materials Needed:

  • Mini Bowdabra
  • Bowdabra Bow Wire
  • Hair Bow Tool and Ruler
  • 57cm of Green Satin 3/8”
  • 27cm of Lt Pink Sheer 7/8”
  • 10cm of Green Satin 3/8” (attach to French Clip)
  • French Clip
  • Clear Nail Polish to keep ribbon ends from fraying
  • Glue Dots or Hot Glue Gun

Instructions:

1. Begin by gathering your materials. You will need a Mini Bowdabra, Bowdabra Hair Bow Tool and Ruler, and Bowdabra Bow Wire. Place Bowdabra ® Hair Bow Tool and Ruler (cm side) onto the Mini Bowdabra, leaving a space at the bottom for the Mini Bowdabra tower to move. Cut a 18” piece of Bowdabra Bow Wire and fold it in half. Lay it into the Mini Bowdabra. You’ll have a loop at one end and two loose pieces at the opposite end.

 

2. To make the flowers (with pointed loops) cut the ribbon 57cm long. Or leave the ribbon on the spool and cut it away when all the loops are made. Seal the end with clear nail polish. Begin by placing one end into the Mini Bowdabra.

 

3. To make your first loop turn the ribbon at an angle place the bottom of the ribbon up, fold, crease the ribbon, and press into the Mini Bowdabra at the 3.5cm mark.

 

4. To make your second loop turn the ribbon at an angle place the bottom of the ribbon up, fold, crease the ribbon, and press into the Mini Bowdabra at the 3.5cm mark.

 

5. Make your third loop by turning the ribbon at an angle place the bottom of the ribbon up, fold, crease the ribbon, and press into the Mini Bowdabra at the 3cm mark.

 

6. Make your fourth loop by turning the ribbon at an angle place the bottom of the ribbon up, fold, crease the ribbon, and press into the Mini Bowdabra at the 3cm mark.

 

7. Make your fifth and six loops by turning the ribbon at an angle placing the bottom of the ribbon up, fold, crease the ribbon, and press into the Mini Bowdabra at the 2.5cm mark.

 

8. Make your final loops, seven and eight, by turning the ribbon at an angle placing the bottom of the ribbon up, fold, crease the ribbon, and press into the Mini Bowdabra at the 2cm mark. If you left the ribbon on the spool cut it away and seal the end of the ribbon.

 

9. Scrunch down with Mini Bowdabra Wand.

 

10. While the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra, thread the two loose ends of the Mini Bowdabra Bow Wire through the loop at the other end.

 

11. Pull the Bowdabra Bow Wire tightly while the bow is stil
l in the Mini Bowdabra.

 

12. Gently pull the bow out of the Mini Bowdabra. Separate the two loose ends of the Bowdabra Bow Wire and bring them around to the back of the bow and knot. Set the leaves, aside.

 

13. To make the flower first begin by sealing the end of the sheer ribbon. Then place the ribbon end into the Mini Bowdabra.

 

14. Fold, crease, and press the ribbon at the 2cm mark to form your first loop.

 

15. Make a matching loop on the other side.

 

16. Next, insert the sheer ribbon through the center tower of the Mini Bowdabra.

 

17. Press it down into the center of the Mini Bowdabra to form an accordion shape. Cut away excess ribbon.

 

18. Scrunch down with Mini Bowdabra Wand.

 

19. While the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra, thread the two loose ends of the Mini Bowdabra Bow Wire through the loop at the other end.

 

20. Pull the Bowdabra Bow Wire tightly while the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra.

 

21. Gently pull the bow out of the Mini Bowdabra. Separate the two loose ends of the Bowdabra Bow Wire and bring them around to the back of the bow and knot. Seal the ribbon end with nail polish.

 

22. Attach a strip of 3/8” green satin ribbon across the top of a french clip use hot glue or glue dots.

 

23. Tie the pink flower bow to the center of the leaf bow. Trim away the excess Bowdabra Bow Wire from the leaf bow.

 

24. Attach the flower with leaves to the French clip and trim away all excess Bowdabra Bow Wire.
