How to make an elegant prom or Mother’s Day wrist corsage

Mother’s Day is coming up and so are proms.  You can make a keepsake elegant wrist corsage easily and inexpensively with Bowdabra. Although you can always use fresh flowers this wrist faux floral corsage is a lasting memory of that special day.

Be sure and buy quality faux florals for your wrist corsage and no one will be able to tell the difference

Materials:

  • Faux roses with foliage
  • Floral wire
  • White floral tape
  • Grill lighter
  • Pearl beaded picks
  • 5/8” sheer ribbon to match
  • Mini Bowdabra
  • Silver Bowdabra bow wire
  • Wire cutters and needle nose pliers
  • Ruler, scissors
  • Silver Elastic bracelet (I got three for under $3 at my local dress shop but you can get theme at the dollar store, or discount dept. stores as well.)
  • Optional hot glue gun and hot glue sticks

First, gather your supplies. Next, decide how many roses you are going to use on your wrist corsage.  I used three but one can be just as beautiful. Clip the roses off of the stems.  These stems are not as flexible so you will be using floral wire.

Now, for each rose, cut a 9” piece of floral wire. Then, using the grill lighter, run the flame over the end of the wire and quickly pass it through the base of the rose. Fold the wire in half.  Wrap the wire tightly and using a little bit of floral tape cover the base.  Repeat this step for each flower you are using.

Next, cut a three-leaf piece of foliage and holding the roses and leaves together, wrap it with floral tape down the wires almost to the end. Add a few pearl picks to the wrist corsage and wrap with floral tape.  Cut any excess wire off the ends.  Use the pliers to curl the ends inward.

Make the Bowdabra bow

Now, make the bow. Cut an 18-inch piece of Bowdabra bow wire, fold in half and insert into the Bowdabra.  You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other. This will be your slip-knot.

Cut a 24” piece of ribbon. Insert into the Bowdabra.  Make a loop at the 1 ½” mark.  Make a matching loop on the other side.  Continue making loops back and forth until you have 4 loops on each side.

Scrunch down with the Bowdabra wand.  Insert the two loose wires through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra.  Remove from the Bowdabra turn to the back and tie a knot.  Adjust the bow loops.

Use the extra wire to tie the wrist corsage onto the bracelet.  You may use some hot glue for extra security if desired.  Adjust the corsage bow and flowers.
